Recipe for the day ~ Peppered Steak in a Crock Pot


Slow Cooked Pepper Steak

Ingredients:
1 ½ - 2 lbs beef round steak, trimmed of fat cut into 3”x1” strips (sometimes you may be able to find them in your meat dept already sliced and packaged)
2 Tbpsn Canola oil
¼ cup soy sauce
1 garlic clove, minced
1 cup onions, chopped
1 tspn sugar
¼ tspn pepper
¼ tspn ginger
2 large green peppers, cut into strips
4 medium tomatoes cut in eights or 16 oz can of diced tomatoes
½ cup cold water
1 Tbpsn cornstarch

Directions:
Brown beef in oil in a saucepan
Transfer to crock pot
Combine soy sauce, garlic, onions, sugar, pepper and ginger
Pour over meat
Cover and cook on low 5-6 hours
Add green peppers and tomatoes
Cook for 1 hour longer
Combine water and cornstarch to make paste
Stir in crock pot
Cook on high for about 10 minutes longer until sauce thickens
Serve over rice or noodles
